Tattooist Recognized as Top Designer by Interiors Mag Celebrity tattoo artist Paul Timman’s Dinnerware is number two on the prestigious Metropolitan Home Design 100
Los Angeles – 12th May 2009: Paul Timman has long been recognized as a top tattoo artist. Now the world of design is taking notice. Paul’s Irezumi dinnerware is number 2 in Metropolitan Home’s Design 100 issue.
The Design 100 showcases the100 most noteworthy objects, events and personalities in the world of design. “It’s easier to plan a wedding for 500 than to get so many opinion-makers to agree on the final list,” said Donna Warner, Editor-In-Chief.
The journey from tattooing celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Drew Barrymore at his Hollywood studio to putting his designs on dinnerware is an important one for Paul, “It goes to show how hard we are working to bring tattoo art to a larger audience and at the same time ensuring that we do the art form justice.”
Paul collaborated with tableware company Ink Dish on the project. Dave Harding CEO of Ink Dish recognised the need for something different on people’s plates, “There are a lot of talented bridal designers working in tabletop but that only serves part of the population. Our customers want a product that makes them say ‘wow!’ when they see the design, resonates when they hear the story behind it, and delivers good value when they reach for their wallet.”
In August, alongside the award winning Irezumi pattern, Paul and Ink Dish will be premiering two new designs at the New York Gift Show: a take on traditional tribal and a decorative cherry blossom continuing the Japanese style that Paul has become well known for. “Irezumi is just the tip of the iceberg,” said Paul.
The Irezumi collection ranges from $14 to $20 for individual pieces, $25 to $50 for gift sets.
