Our Asian, Ancient & Ethnographic Works of Art Auction is ongoing through Tuesday, May 12. Many of the items are available for viewing at our gallery in New York City, located at 229 East 120th Street, on Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8 from 10am-5pm.
Included in our Asian, Ancient and Ethnographic Works of Art Sale are several important lots. The highlight is a finely carved Chinese imperial bamboo brushpot from the Qianlong period (1736-1795), depicting the cultivation of cotton and including a long dedicatory inscription. Also featured in this sale is a pair of gilt-decorated black lacquer armchairs, Qianlong period. There are many other interesting and fine quality works included in this sale.
Over fifty Pre-Columbian gold works are available for purchase in this auction. Examples include a large Gold Avian-Form Pectoral Ornament, Costa Rica circa 800 - 1550 AD, a Gold Hollow Cylindrical Beads, Costa Rica circa 800 - 1550 AD, and a Gold Zoomorphic Figure Set as a Brooch, Costa Rica circa 800 - 1550 AD.
A pair of Chinese Jadeite Bowls, and a Chinese Bronze Dagger from the Shang Dynasty, circa 1500 BC are part of our Chinese Works of Art collection offered in this sale. Our Chinese ceramics in this auction include a Chinese Porcelain Blue and White Meping, 20th Century, and a pair of Chinese Porcelain Blue & White Bowls, Guangxu Mark and Period. This Asian art auction also includes a selection of Asian paintings and prints. Highlights from this section include two China Trade Paintings Depicting Tea Harvest, circa 18th Century, as well as Three Chinese Framed Paintings, circa 19th Century.
