Landscape with Horse-Drawn Wagon
This illegibly signed 1879 oil on canvas painting, with a pre-auction estimate of $300-$500, generated an incredible volume of floor and online bidding. In the end, an Artfact Live! bidder beat out the floor with a lofty $41,000 bid, including buyer’s premium. Based on photographs, Jonathan Fairbanks, Artfact’s Vice President of Research, believes that the signature on this Russian-style work may be Cyrillic.

Chinese Carved 19th Century Rhinoceros Horn
This rare 19th Century rhino horn, Cheffins’ top-selling lot, was claimed by an Artfact Live! bidder for ₤24,000 (USD $35,255). Bidding on this lot seesawed between the floor and Internet, far surpassing the pre-auction estimate of ₤4,000 - ₤6,000 (USD $5880-$8820) and making it one of the top 5 most expensive carved rhino horns ever sold at auction.

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) Signed Vellum Document, Dated May 11, 1786
Selling for $2,000 on Artfact Live!, this land grant issued to Captain Bernard Hubley, a First Lieutenant in the German Regiment, was signed by Franklin while he was President of the Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Rare Chinese Ivory and Hardwood Table Screen, 18th Century
The rare table screen, mounted in a carved hardwood frame and stand and revealing a finely carved and polychromed scene of rice farmers, was claimed for $11,160 (including buyer’s premium) by an Artfact Live! bidder. Overall, Alderfer’s auction generated strong online bidding activity, with Artfact Live! generating 24% of the total lots sold.

Rare and large Chinese Carved Two-Tone Lacquer Foliate Dish, Yuan/Ming Dynasty
From the Yuan/Ming Dynasty, this rare and large lacquer dish, with a starting estimate of $10,000, sold to an Arfact Live! bidder for $12,500 (including buyer’s premium). Of barbed foliate form, this dish shows peony sprigs and four birds in flight over a red ground.

Apple Green Glazed Scholar Brushwasher, Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Mark and of the Period 1737-1795
This 18th century glazed brushwasher, sold on Artfact Live! for CAD 12,300 (USD $10,020), represents the highest lot sold for Ritchie’s (Canada) during its “Ritchies Select” 3-day sale. Outselling the next highest lot by CAD 2,700, this lot far exceeded its pre-auction estimate of CAD 4,000 – 6,000 (USD $3,260 - $4,890), as bidding aggressively alternated back-and-forth between the floor and Artfact Live!.
