A unique and impressive selection of Steuben Glass, the only permanent exhibit of Vintage post-Carder Steuben Glass available in the United States, is now on display and available for purchase at Shreve, Crump & Low at 440 Boylston Street in Boston’s Back Bay.
This Vintage Steuben Glass exhibit includes a wide range of glass in all categories including the wonderful Animals, Major Ornamental Designs with Gold or Silver (such as the original James Houston Arctic Series pieces, the original Frog Prince, etc.), significant copper wheel engraved Exhibition Pieces, Table and Drinking Accessories, and Candlesticks. Some of the initial Vintage masterworks include the famous Gazelle Bowl, the incomparable Swan Bowl, James Houston’s limited edition Rhino Horn and the rare Audubon Bird Plates.
All of these museum-quality pieces have been carefully selected from the finest estates and private collections in the United States. The collection includes the finest examples of Steuben Glass design from the 1930's forward that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. Steuben Glass, which has been handcrafted since 1903 in Corning, New York, is the gift of State that United States President's have given since the Truman administration and Steuben Glass pieces can be found not only in the White House but also in many distinguished museums all over the country.
A reception with Jeffrey Purtell, the curator of this Vintage Steuben exhibit, is taking place at Shreve, Crump & Low on Thursday, May 21st, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
The exhibit is free and open to the public during store hours which are Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Thursday, 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 Noon - 5:00 PM. Shreve, Crump & Low is handicapped-accessible.
