ZuniLink offers vintage fetish carvings from collection ZuniLink, the online gallery for Zuni and other Indian fetish carvings sponsored by Aboriginals Gallery, has posted up a collection pre-1970 Zuni fetish carvings.
Recently extracted from the owners' personal collection, an assortment of old or vintage Zuni fetish carvings - dating to before 1970 - are being offered on the ZuniLink Web site. All of the carvings are being offered for sale as individual items.
Among the carvings available are a turquoise eagle, a pipestone bear and bowl, green turquoise horse, Zuni Rock bear, serpentine wolf, turquoise frog, onyx mountain lion, white marble bear and a pipestone badger. These carvings have been attributed to the collection of Sam Chernoff and to carvers in the Homer family.
Carvings are available through ZuniLink's Collector's Club, which offers deferred payment plans.
ZuniLink.com is a Web site that has been in operation since 2002. It is owned by the owners of Aboriginals: Art of the First Person, a gallery previously located on Sanibel Island, Florida. In 2005, following two destructive hurricanes, the gallery was closed and the operation moved exclusively to an online operation.
The owners have been in the Tribal Arts business, offering both historic and contemporary Indian, African, Inuit and Australian Aboriginal art since 1979 and are members of major Tribal Arts organizations, including the Indian Arts and Crafts Association (IACA) and the Southwest Association for Indian Art (SWAIA).
IACA requires members to offer only Indian Art that has been made by enrolled Native Americans. SWAIA stages the annual Santa Fe Indian Market.
