BIG SWAP BONANZA, CHICAGO’S BIGGEST YARD SALE COMES TO SOLIDER FIELD ON SATURDAY, MAY 2nd
Calling all Vendors – Vendor Space is Now Available For Reservation
CHICAGO – “Dump the stationary bike that doubles as a clothing valet, get rid of those piles of Barney videos, recycle all your Jenna Bush memorabilia and for goodness sake sell your golf clubs to someone who actually likes to play golf!” so says Sally Schwartz, organizer of the new Big Swap Bonanza, to be held Saturday May 2 at Soldier Field, outdoors in the South parking lot.
The Big Swap Bonanza, Chicago’s Biggest Yard Sale, comes to Solider Field on Saturday, May 2nd. Gates open for sales display set up at 5:00 a.m., and shoppers can arrive as early as 7:00 am, rain or shine. HGTV’s Frank Fontana, host of the popular tv series, “Design on a Dime” will be on hand signing autographs and giving design tips as well as Chicago’s “Room Whisperer,” Susan Fleischman, Clutterfree Founder and Professional Organizer who invites attendees to get "free advice" about organizing their homes, offices and lives. And anyone can bring their old computers and cell phones to the onsite recycling center and help make Chicago greener.
Vendor Space is now available, spaces can now be reserved for $50, and include room for a display and a regular vehicle. Larger spaces are available, according to Schwartz, who also produces the Randolph Street Market Festival, home of the famed Chicago Antique Market and Indie Designer Market.
In addition, Big Swap Organizers have added a Celebrity Sellathon Fundraiser to benefit Chicago’s Bottomless Closet Charity. Celebrities are also getting out with the old and spring cleaning to donate used and autographed items for sale in Big Swap’s celebrity booth including Frankie Avalon, who has donated and signed his golf putter. Other gently used celebrity items such as sporting equipment, games, clothing, antiques and house wares will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go the Bottomless Closet which collects and distributes professional attire to unemployed women and struggling single mothers struggling to keep food on the table for their children and pay their rent.
"It's time for a fabulous Chicago yard sale, for families and amateur collectors and traders. Spring is traditionally the time for household cleanings, and this year some of that extra stuff and clutter can be turned into cash…in this economy, who can't use a little extra dough?" said Schwartz. "Or, save money on finding needed things at a bargain. I'll be shopping myself for all the unexpected finds that turn up at swap meets." Schwartz said that attendance is expected to exceed 10,000 people.
