(TEMECULA, Calif.) - An outstanding single-owner collection of 111 rare and vintage cars – ranging from 1920s-era classics to muscle cars from the 1960s, most of them in pristine condition and ready to drive – will be sold at auction this weekend, Apr. 3-4, by Asset Forfeiture & Seizure Auctions. Online bidding will be facilitated by iCollector.com. It is a consignment auction, not an asset seizure.
The automobiles comprise part of the Jay Weinberg Collection. Mr. Weinberg is a dedicated and discriminating car enthusiast who only sought out the best, most coveted examples of the genre. But the sale will also feature antiques, collectibles, artwork and decorative arts owned by Mr. Weinberg. The three-session sale will begin on Friday evening. The cars will come up for bid Saturday morning at 11.
Some of the cars to be offered include a 1962 Cadillac convertible with Louis Vuitton interior; a 1966 Mustang Shelby GT350 fastback tribute car; a 1947 Humber Pullman limousine; a 1940 Packard 120 convertible coupe; a 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II touring sedan; a 1959 Morgan Plus 4 Roadster; a 1953 MG TD roadster; a 1958 Ford Thunderbird sport coupe; and a 1929 Cadillac 341B sedan.
All lots – including the automobiles – will be sold to the highest bidder, without reserve. The 1966 Ford Mustang fastback is a tribute car to Carroll Shelby, the master auto designer who lent his name and touch to the Mustang brand at its very inception. Today, Mustang Shelbys are highly collectible and typically command top dollars. This example is a GT350 model with a 289 cid overhead valve V-8 engine, four-barrel carburetor, four-speed transmission, racing wheels and Shelby pinstripes.
The 1962 Cadillac custom convertible is unlike any other. Louis Vuitton fabric design has been liberally utilized throughout, to include the folding top, upholstery, soft boot and dash insert. Other features include custom candy tangerine paint, high-quality chrome and bright work, Powerbass 2X1 custom sound system, a 390 cid engine with 325 horsepower, and Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
The 1947 Humber Pullman limousine was a four-door luxury coach-built model, designed to be a chauffeur-driven motorcar fitted with accouterments to please heads-of-state. The quality and strength of the Humber chassis was legendary. This car, the recipient of an older restoration, features a power divider window, power rear curtain, three-position town/sedan roof and 4086 cc six-cylinder motor.
The 1958 Ford Thunderbird sport coupe has had a complete restoration, which is documented with a full book of receipts. Only 2,300 miles have been traversed since the completion. The car drives as good, or better, than the day it was new, with no issues. Features include a 352 cid overhead valve V-8 engine (300hp), four-barrel carburetor, Cruise-O-Matic transmission and correct whitewall tires.
