The Great Escape can mean so many things to different people from the view from a mountain top after a hard climb to relaxing in your favourite armchair with a good book. It might be driving through the countryside on a 1964 Triumph Sports Roadster or finding a rare addition for your collection. This selling exhibition will show a wide range of subjects from exploration to travel in style; from the foot down on the accelerator to the slow, measured engagement of a game of chess and from playing golf with hickory shafted clubs to enjoying a picnic with Victorian portable furniture.
Items on show will include a late 19th Century Snow Bike, an Edwardian pond yacht, a 1964 Triumph 500cc Sports Roadster, a copper plaque commemorating Scott’s 1910 -1912 expedition, various mountaineering and skiing photographs and of course campaign furniture and sporting antiques.
We are pleased the exhibition will be associated with Kate’s Home Nursing and 5 % of all exhibition sales will go to the charity. Added to this, on Sunday the 26th April 2009, to coincide with exhibition we are offering you the chance to enjoy your own ‘great escape’ and at the same time help raise money for Kate’s Home Nursing. With Kate’s, we have organised a Treasure Hunt around the beautiful north Cotswolds that will end with a late lunch, prize presentation, raffle and auction. The Treasure Hunt will be around the area that Kate’s serves: Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Northleach and Burford. It will be a great day out for all ages and although we are encouraging the use of classic cars if you have one, you will be equally welcome in a Robin Reliant. There will also be the opportunity to participate in a chauffeur driven Super Car. Get in touch to find out more.
Kate’s Home Nursing provides hospice at home nursing care for those in the last stage of illness, filling the gap that the statutory sector cannot and giving respite to the patient’s primary carer. Registered Charity No. 1059680.
