iGavel Holiday Highlights iGavel is pleased to present its Holiday Sales, featuring items that are offered in Fresh@iGavel and in our Book Sale. The auctions will take place from December 9th through December 23rd.
The Holiday Highlights Auctions include a number of lots that appear on Fresh@iGavel: a photo-realist work by famed artist Robert Gniewek, Gas Station, Oil on Canvas, estimated at $7,000-$10,000.
Of particular importance are two Screenprints by Jacob Lawrence, entitled Builders&Workers, estimated at $3,000-$4,500. The New York Times called Lawrence “one of America’s leading modern figurative painters” and “among the most impassioned visual chroniclers of the African-American experience.”
Included in our Holiday Sales are three paintings by Johann Berthelsen, a late American Impressionist painter famed for his snow scenes in New York. For most of his painting career, Berthelsen painted the contemporary life and the energy of the metropolis that surrounded him. Besides their beauty and their power, they are illustrative of time-specific scenes, cityscapes, dress and vehicles of a bygone era, and are historic documents.
A George III Silver Tray, estimated at $2,500-$3,500, as well as an Abraham Lincoln autographed letter of discharge, dated April 22, 1864, estimated at $3,000-$4,000, are also part of the diverse collection offered in our Holiday Sales.
