Squirl is a free web site for collectors, where you can organize and share your collections and meet other collectors. It lets you upload pictures and descriptions of your collectibles to your own private web site and control exactly what is visible to others. You can catalog your collections, share as much or as little of them as you'd like, and know that your information is safely stored and available from anywhere. With over 30 customized templates for different kinds of collectibles and features like privacy controls, messages, search, comments, and RSS, Squirl is fun and easy to use for both serious and recreational collectors.
Squirl was founded in January 2006 by lifelong friends John McGrath and Steve de Brun. The idea sprang from John's inability to find a place post his collection of 3,000 45rpm records. Steve suggested expanding the site to encompass a wider variety of collectibles, and after a brainstorming session with his wife, came up with the name. John does the programming Steve does the design. This is Steve and John's second collaborative project. The first was a year-long bike trip from Los Angeles, CA to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, to raise money for development groups.
Squirl is a privately-held company based in Los Angeles, CA and Portland, ME.
